Gorbachev’s lost opportunity…and Lenin’s?

February 27th, 2018 · No Comments

Marxist confusion has cost the left the ball game, so far. We can only shake our heads at the way that confusion over marxism and its theories blinded both Lenin and Gorbachev at key points:

the total delineation of markets and communism was a fallacy from the marx era and led to the muddle that finally overtook Gorbachev who had a great opportunity for something like our ‘democratic market neo-communism’. Instead the endgame was a CIA/US destruction of the whole system and new we see neither democracy nor much capitalism.
Gorbachev could have set up fairly easily a hybrid system of state ownership and markets and we can see that this is/was eminently possible because the chinese did it and became a global success. I do not endorse the chinese outcome: it is not really socialist and is without democracy, but it at least withstood the US predatory economic rape of russia.
The fallacy inherited from marx’s stages of production theory is that of a total reversal of capitalism. But we have suggest that communism could reconcile to markets in a condition of communist constitutionalism… Our DMNC would do the chinese case one better and might have rescued the system gorbachev inherited from oblivion…

Gorbachev’s lost opportunity…//[Marxism] The USSR collapsed because oil prices collapsed?

It is hard to see this as any real explanation: Gorbachev missed a great opportunity and the problem lay in the inability of the legacy of marxism to provide a blueprint…something like our ‘democratic market neo-communism’ could have easily taken the USSR into new territory, real communist territory…
