Floating fourth turning points…

March 17th, 2018 · No Comments

Our idea of ‘floating fourth turning points’ is a bit strange, but it was designed that way, to force thinking into a new perspective. However its basic idea is that of an artificially created ‘transition’ such as we see in the eonic effect. A pretty stupendous task! Beyond simple reckoning: examine the modern transition and consider what process generates such a phenomenon. We hardly know. We can however consider the idea as a gendanken experiment to remind ourselves of our historical powerlessness and the aspiration to overcome that.
It is important for radicals to consider the point: creating a new society is likely to fail. But then again society as it is is equally likely to fail so we must consider issues of revolution.
In any case the idea can at least be used to remind ourselves that social change is more than economic: it should include issues of religion, philosophy, art, science, etc…: the whole spectrum of modern innovations 1500 to 1800 provides the stupendous list.
