harvey and the obsession with das capital…//[Marxism] labor theory of value

Harvey’s rejection of the labor theory of value is of great interest. We have said as much here many times. The problem is one of ‘theory’, as we have noted. The core issue should be a simple insight that value and wages stand in some relation, mostly one of exploitation. The minute you try to make a theory of that you are in trouble and you end in the fumbled football called Das Capital. The simple insight is enough along with some sense of thew economists used a strangely sophistical marginal argument to replace the classical version. I admire harvey but he is feeding the obsession over marx’s das capital at a time when we need a new and simpler approach: theories are the nemesis of marx and marxism and the whole formulation is a cultic ceremony of the ‘savior’ marx and his infallible theories which are actually confusing leftists. .
