by Stephen Schwartz
I just came across this new book on sufism.
History, Evolution, and the Darwin Debate
The Other Islam: Sufism and the Road to Global Harmony (Hardcover)
by Stephen Schwartz
I just came across this new book on sufism.
The last post reminds of the previous series, when Sillykitty was still around, about finding a box of old sonnets and, sonnets. The piece about ‘Unrequited love, and stray cats’, must have scared SK away. I got interrupted in my train of thought, and the question of my sonnets was merely the wind up for [...]
SK comment suggesting I am a ’sufi’
Sillykitty, I need to clarify the suggestion that in some fashion I am a ’sufi’. It simply isn’t true. First, the term is undefined, and has no meaning, actually. But in the conventional sense, it can be very destructive to pin that label on anyone. It implies that a [...]
Note to sillykitty comment: SK likes the ‘un-erasing personal history’ idea.
It was my observation (clear from Castaneda’s life itself) that the ‘erasing personal history’ routine is a way to conceal one’s real game.
Students of Sufism (or at least the Idries Shah brand) or Gurdjieff, and now the interloper Gold, et al., fail to see how [...]
Sillykitty has, strangely, sent me a book about Castaneda: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice: My Life with Carlos Castaneda (Hardcover)
by Amy Wallace
I feel very grateful for such an expense, but am worried that I should return it.
Sillykitty comment.
I was grateful for your audacious comment, which deserves some thought, but I do have to make one objection:
you wandering around for long period of time–fakir! yes, of course. it is a normal reaction to having had a psychotic break, or breaks
.
You are describing your own experience, not mine. At no point did [...]
Comment from sillykitty on SK: Sufi hyenas and mysticism, an exit strategy.
We have lost the thread of our mind control discussion.
You did a good thing here by bringing up the subject of mindcontrol: unwittingly it turned out to be a preparation for the appearance of Naomi Klein’s The Shock Doctrine, with its depiction of [...]
Having raised the question of ‘mysticism’ with ’sillykitty’ in several posts: Schopenhauer and atheism, here, and here.
Sillykitty, I denied the label ‘mystic’, and for good reason.
Comment form Sillykitty to Note to SK: Sufi hyenas, poets beware
Note: Sillykitty has been a frequent contributor here, and this blog pursued the ‘deprogramming’ option with respect to the shadowy ’sufi’ school of the ‘notorious rogue sufi’ e. j. gold. This issue and sk’s case actually made it into Wikipedia in the entry on Mr. [...]
post on ’sufi hyenas’.
Perhaps this post was misleading! I was not proposing another consipiracy theory, but simply expressing pure paranoia. We can’t easily figure this one out.
SK has pestered me to reveal the secrets of occult mindcontrol, and I have protested my ignorance of such a category.
Anyway, SK, read this opening paragraph from Krugman today.
Sometimes it seems that the only way to make sense of the Bush administration is to imagine that it’s a vast experiment concocted by mad political [...]
Sillykitty comments.
Welcome back, SK.
Readers may not recall our threads on ’sufi hyaenas’ (sic, spelled thus) and ’sillykitty’ and ‘mindcontrol’ and ‘Rajneesh’ here. Use these quotes as search items.
He has been avoiding me, and this blog, for reasons unknown (I am hard to like, I guess), no problem with that.
I mention this to comment on [...]
Sillykitty(thanks) sends me this link (he is in constant paranoid fear of ’sufi hyena’ gold, the ’shaykh’ according to Whitehouse) from Sufi Amanesis, with remarks about E.J. Gold
the google blog search turns up interesting tidbits sometimes. check out
‘authenticity of sufi shaykhs’ re: e.j. gold
http://anab-whitehouse.blogspot.com/2007/07/authenticity.html
Since Mr. Whitehouse has never met Mr. Gold, and has little information, [...]
Dogberry comments
you were offered…? I doubt if you got my point, not surprising.
Beyond that, you misunderstand me: I am not a New Age seeker who met a bad teacher out of a line up of good and bad. I have no connection to any of that. The Mephisto metaphor, a slap in the face metaphor, [...]
This discussion of Shah, Gurdjieff, and Bennett has reached critical mass, and the point where I should point out something. Most readers will find this incomprehensible, SK maybe not.
Sillykitty, keep an eye on Hucklebird. He is prancing through Wilber land oblivious to his danger, this Cohen fellow who was out to get me, using Hucklebird [...]
Comment: Pagels…from salon to scienceblogs:
Welcome back, Sillykitty. You are on Wikipedia at: Wikipedia on E. J. Gold, I guess you knew. Good show, all of this was supposed to hidden.
