I think people on the left are too isolated and ingrown to realize that their legacy is loathed by too many people to be viable in its current form.
If there is one thing that shows that it is the way the OWS outflanked the old left with a new strain of activism.
I think that the old left is running out of time: the twenty years since the 1989 fall of Boslhevism has generated very little innovation or self-criticism on the left. The OWS has stolen a march on that legacy by changing the mental habits, tactics, and activist principles to something new. Note the way that something new is the issue, or one of them.
