This is a great idea, but one thing is sure, it won’t happen. The capitalist DNA pervades these soon to be derelicts of american industrial prowess.
What is needed is an industrial organization from scratch that can mange the tasks of production. It is not so difficult: the creation of factories and markets is not some kind of miracle: people of low intelligence learned how to do it, and the result is the system in place. The left can’t make a future with discards or the corpse of old capitalist enterprises.
The result needs entrepreneurs: there is no reason these can’t be socialist, the requisite technology: mostly public domain, but it is not clear why a socialsit can’t innovate if necessary. Financing: not o hard….The Point: all the stages in the apparatus of a ‘capitalist’ industry can be transferred to a socialist context, and the result can still play out to a market field….
